Commemorating 50 Years: A Golden Jubilee

The day began with a warm welcome by Shaykh Mukhtar Raban, setting a heartfelt tone for the proceedings. This was followed by a moving Dua led by Moulana Rushdie Nackerdien and a beautiful Qira’ah recited by Haafith Abubaker Nackerdien. Adding to the spiritual atmosphere, the Grade R Madressa class recited Surah Faatihah, while Sister Kaamilah Abrahams from the Islamic Studies for Youth (ISFY) programme provided a meaningful translation

Next, the community was uplifted by Salawaat performed by Boorhanol Moulood Jamaah from Cape Town. The soulful recitations created an atmosphere of reflection, invoking blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and setting a spiritual tone for the day's proceedings. The melodic praises echoed through the masjid, bringing a sense of unity and contemplation among the attendees.

Following the Salawaat, a series of inspiring speeches were delivered by esteemed members of the community. Imam Behardien Jappie, the Chairman of the Imaamat Council delivered an inspiring speech, highlighting the masjid's history and its vital role in the community. Hajjie Ighsaan Gamieldien, the chairperson of the Board of Trustees, shared insights into the remarkable journey of various masajid in the city and expressed the vision of the masjid, explaining the hopes of becoming a self-sustaining masjid. He also shared his gratitude to all those who have contributed to the masjid's development and success over the years.

Hajjie Abdul Kahaar Hendricks, a member of the Board, paid a heartfelt tribute to the past imams, honoring their legacy and contributions. Shaykh Mukhtar Raban, the head imam shared an overview of the masjid, recognising the previous generation as well as the next. Sister Ardiela Savahl from the Masjidut Taqwa Ladies Committee (MTLC) highlighted the crucial role of women at Masjidut Taqwa, emphasizing their unwavering support and dedication.

The launch of the new coffee shop within the mosque's premises was another highlight of the day. Brother Aadil Kahaar shared his vision for the coffee shop, explained how it aims to be a welcoming space for community members to gather, socialize, and strengthen their bonds. The unveiling of a commemorative plaque in the coffee shop was a moment of pride and celebration. This plaque stands as a testament to the mosque's enduring legacy and its ongoing commitment to serving the community.

The celebrations concluded with a special performance by Khuddamul Islam, who graced the audience with two beautiful nasheeds. Their melodious voices and heartfelt lyrics added an emotional and spiritual dimension to the event, leaving everyone with a sense of fulfillment and hope for the future. The 50th-year commemoration of Masjidut Taqwa was a testament to the strength and unity of the community, looking back with pride and forward with optimism.
