VACANCY: ISLAMIC STUDIES EDUCATOR (FEMALE)

Reference: Islamic Studies Educator – MTI01 (female)

Job Title: Madrasah Educator

MTIC Division/Department: Masjidut Taqwa Institute – Madrasah Programme

Starting Date: February/March 2024

Type of employment: Short-Term Contract (Part-time Position: Afternoons/Evenings)

Salary: based on the applicant’s qualifications and experience

Requirements:

  • Matric
  • 4-year structured Islamic and Arabic Studies programme from a reputable Islamic seminary/Madrasah
  • At least 2 years of relevant teaching experience (young learners in a similar environment)
  • Effective teaching practices (with supporting evidence)
  • Strong classroom management
  • Effective classroom administration
  • Warm and encouraging professional demeanor
  • Willing to teach diverse learners
  • Willing to uphold the Islamic cultural values of MTIC and the local Muslim community
  • Willing to undergo continued professional development
  • Can work independently, part of a team and under supervision
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Driving license advantageous (but not essential)
  • Willing to work according to a flexible shift

Key performance areas:

  • Teach in Masjidut Taqwa Institute’s Madrasah programme
  • Conduct lesson planning and produce teaching and learning resources
  • Complete related administration and classroom management work
  • Set and mark assessments
  • Attend meetings, workshops and professional development initiatives
  • Assist at any extra-mural and community events hosted by MTIC

VACANCY: ASSISTANT CHEF
Job Reference: Internship – Assistant Chef
Job Title: Youth Intern – Assistant Chef

MTIC Division/Department: Taqwa Coffee Shop

Starting Date: 1 February 2024

Type of employment: Internship, 1-year contract, non-renewable

Salary: R 4 200 pm

Requirements:

  • South African citizen
  • Between 18 and 27 years old at the commencement of the contract
  • Strong work ethic
  • Good health
  • Extremely neat and tidy
  • Excellent skills in the kitchen and with food preparation
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Organised
  • Can work independently, part of a team and under supervision
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Driving license advantageous (but not essential)
  • Previous work experience advantageous (but not essential)
  • Willing to work according to a flexible shift schedule in accordance with the operational needs of Taqwa Coffee Shop (capped at 40 hours per week, Tuesday to Sunday, between 8:00am-20:00pm)

Key performance areas:

  • Assist with food and beverage preparation
  • Assist with waitering duties
  • General administrative assistance in the Taqwa Coffee Shop
  • Assist with tidying and cleaning the Taqwa Coffee Shop
  • Assist at events hosted by MTIC
