Muharram 1446 at Masjidut Taqwa

By Naajidah Brown

During the weekend of the 6th and 7th of Muharram (13th and 14th of July 2024), Masjidut Taqwa hosted a series of events centred around the theme of Muharram 1446. These included a kids' event, a ladies' talk, and the main Muharram program.

On Saturday morning, the MTLC organized a delightful Kids' Paint 'n Sip Muharram program with Teacher Mishka Savahl. The children participated in an exciting and inspirational talk by Shaykh Mukhtar Raban, followed by a fun painting session where they let their creativity soar. They also enjoyed a variety of snacks and drinks.

On Sunday, MTLC hosted a ladies-only Muharram talk featuring Ustādah Razeena Nackerdien and sister Tasneem Vawda. They discussed the Hijrah and the story of Musa (AS), providing Islamic New Year inspiration to the attendees. This event encouraged the women to set new intentions for the year and increase their acts of worship.

The main Muharram program took place on Sunday evening, 14th July, between Maghrib and Esha Salah. The programme began with a short thikr led by the Imam Farouk Gamieldien and the resident Jama'ah. Shaykh Mukhtar Raban then delivered an inspirational talk titled "Let Your Haqq (Truth) Conquer” followed by a closing du’a by Moulana Rushdie Nackerdien. Attendees enjoyed refreshments in Classroom 1 and the Seminar Hall, while kids received special treats in the coffee shop.
