Honouring Palestine in Nakba Week

Masjidut Taqwa Islamic Centre stands in solidarity with Palestine, having participated in the #Week4Palestine from 1 to 7 May 2024, known as Nakba Week. This significant week was marked by a series of impactful events held at the masjid.

On Wednesday, 1 May, after Esha, Moulana Siraaj Joubert delivered an enlightening and informative presentation on the historical background and profound meaning of "Nakba." This presentation set the tone for the week's events, fostering important discussions and reflections. The event concluded with the sale of snacks and refreshments, with all proceeds generously donated to support Palestine.

On Friday, 3 May, Shaykh Imaan Nakhomo delivered a powerful Jumu’ah Khutbah titled "Palestine Bleeds," addressing the ongoing struggles and injustices faced by our Palestinian brothers and sisters. His powerful words resonated deeply with the congregation, reinforcing the need for awareness and action.

On Sunday, 5 May, Head Imam Shaykh Mukhtar Raban concluded the week's activities with a heartfelt address titled "Praying for Palestine." He emphasized the importance of continued support and prayers for our Palestinian brothers and sisters, calling for a unified effort in their aid.

Additionally, our Madrasah learners demonstrated their solidarity through creativity, producing remarkable posters in support of Palestine. We are immensely proud of our young students for their heartfelt expressions of empathy and support.
